50 Cent probably became the biggest independent Hip Hop artist with his new deal at Caroline /Capitol/ UMG and is following in the footsteps of another great independent businessman. For the first time since he announced his departure from Interscope Records, 50 Cent discusses details of his new deal and how it was supposed to happen.
According to his recent interview with Forbes, 50 Cent says that his deal at Caroline/Capitol/UMG is similar to Birdman’s Cash Money Records deal with Universal Music Group. Birdman’s Cash Money Records gives only “7% of wholesale per album to Universal in exchange for distribution and support” according to the article.
